Bringing ethos to life through practice.

In Practice as a mindset, David emphasizes that we, as individuals, are defined by what we repeatedly do, no matter what we claim to be. Actions always speak louder than words. It's a simple idea that is easily understood, yet carries profound implications when we put it to practice. Unfortunately, in this world full of crowds selling ambiguous abstractions and bravado, this truth is often overlooked.

Thinking and talking is easy, acting on something is where things start to get interesting.

It's easy for us to get caught up in the process of ideating, elaborating, planning, and strategizing. While these processes are important, we often forget that they do not equate to taking action. These processes mostly focus on contemplation and discussion; if we stop at strategizing, nothing will actually get done.

The gap between intention and execution is where the true test of character lies.

Taking action is crucial in bringing our ethos to life because it translates our meanings into tangible outcomes and experiences – helping us determine whether our beliefs are genuine or merely wishful thinking. Ultimately, it is our ongoing commitment to action that solidifies the connection between our beliefs and the life we aspire to lead.

Brief explanation on Ethos: a set of principles and beliefs that defines the characteristic of an individual or group. A representation of what you stand for and believe in – which helps shape your identity and actions.
